Raptors
Yesterday a supplier of mine (Bowne) gave me four platinum seats to go see the Raptors play the Celtics.
Brian was away for the day so I didn't know if I would use the tickets. I called him but he didn't think he could make it back into the city in time for the game. So, I first offered them around the office but nobody could use them. What was I to do? I called my brother and offered him two tickets, but he had to work. Minutes after talking with him though he called me back and had someone cover for him. So there were three tickets taken care of. (Him, a friend and me). Now what to do with that last ticket? I called my brother-in-law Jason but he had a meeting he couldn't get out of, but was sad to have to decline. Hmmm, I can't let a platinum ticket go to waste, so I talked with my brother again to see if he had another friend who would like to attend. He made some calls and found that a close friend could also come. So me and my brother, and his two friends met around 5:45pm and headed to the ACC. We thought we would grab some grub there since it was raining out we just wanted to get there and not worry about walking there later closer to the game.
We got there and checked out our 3rd row, section 120 seats that offered a lounge with free drinks, and popcorn and after 6pm they offered us steak, and chicken fingers etc. WOW! There were 10 of us that were guests of Bowne in the lounge so we chatted for a while and then headed out to our seats for the game.
The Raptors were up in the first quarter but not by much but we didn't seem to mind as our waitress brought up free drinks (what we were drinking in the lounge earlier) to our seats. Then back to the game. At half time we headed to the washrooms where there were no line-ups and then back to the lounge to enjoy some fancy ice-cream. Ahhh...oh...back to the game. The back and forth was so close as it usually is in basketball games and it was fun to watch. Then before we knew it the 3rd quarter was over and our waitress came out to ask if we wanted anything for last call. WOW AGAIN! During the last quarter the crowd watched eagerly as we neared the 100 point FREE Pizza from Pizza Pizza and when they hit it everyone went nuts. So today I can trade in my ticket for free Pizza.
The score was 102 Raptors to 99 Celtics with 1.8 seconds left.
The Celtics threw a 3 pointer and the buzzer went. Then SWOOSH.
TIE GAME - OVERTIME!
The 5 minutes of overtime all belonged to the Raptors but it was still so unbelievable that the Celtics scored that three pointer. It was like a scene in a movie. The final score 118 to 112.
After the game we got the special exit and got out easily! It was so nice as now I only had a few minutes to get on my train home.
I thanked my brother for making it a fun evening and gave him a few directions to get where he was going and then headed for home.
Another late work night. Oh well. It was worth it. Thanks Bowne!
