JK Night for Hadley
Tonight was Hadley's intro to Junior Kindergarten night at Lakeside Public School.
We arrived at 6:30 pm where she was welcomed by the principal and the kindergarten teachers. She received a name tag with a blue circle on it and a welcome letter.
The blue circle put her into a small group. This group moved around the room doing alphabet, writing, math and fine motor games.
The alphabet game was a paper handout of the alphabet with plastic letters given to her to match them up. It was the intention of the teacher to give the capital letter sheet with the capital letter plastic letters but an impatient Hadley had a lower case paper sheet and worked away with the green capital letters matching them with ease.
Then the writing centre had a literacy specialist that works at the school show the kids some stencils and tracing games. She also asked the kids to write their names.
Hadley loved the math centre and put the right number of fish in the bowl every time. Then she worked hard at the fine motor centre cutting and using play doh.
I felt very proud of all that Hadley could do and I loved watching her have fun.
After the centres there was a snack time, and presentation for parents of what to expect next year. Then each kid was presented with a goody bag.
We walked home in what was a beautiful night.
