Buck and Doe and the zoo!

Okay, although you might find a buck and a doe in a zoo, these are actually two stories.

Starting with Friday night.
We hosted a buck and doe for our Friends Lindsay and Jamie to raise money for their upcoming wedding.  What is a buck and doe?  It is a dance fund-raiser and it was held in Listowel, and I was a little worried for the turn out because the bride and groom do not live there.  However, there were approx. 100 people to come and enjoy the evening of music, raffles and of course food.  Clean up went late, but the after party went even later.  All said and done though we did raise a good amount for the couple and it was a sucess!

Saturday morning.
Came way too early!  We woke up at 8:30am, got ready and headed to the Toronto Zoo.  It was BMO day at the zoo so I got tickets from work at a decent price.  We enjoyed the day with John and Patrick.  We thought there would be rain all day and to the contrary, it was a beautiful day.  To start, we traveled into the Canadian Domain where we saw the ever rare racoon in a tree, a grizzy bear in a metal tube and a moose lazily sitting on grass.  All kidding aside this section provided quite the hike.  For future reference though, this is not my favorite section of the park.  We headed from the Canadian Domian into the Afican Savanna where we saw lions, (Brian got some good photos here), and baboons (cute little baby baboon here, actually lots of little babies this year at the zoo), as well as rhino's, warthogs and many others that I must say were a litte more impressive in Africa, but hey...the zoo is only a few minutes from my house, so they will suffice.  :)  From here we headed into the Indo-Malayan section where we saw the ever talked about and oh so cute baby Sumatran tigers.  Ahhhhhh.   There were so many people crowded around here.  We tried to get some good photos but the bars in front of them proved a challenge.  Cute in person though.  After a little bit we headed to the Indo-Malaya Pavillion where we saw the orangutans which were so cute (also with baby).  We had a short stop in the Malayan Woods Pavilion where we checked out the butterflies and then decided that we were truly exhausted after spending 5 1/2 hours walking around the zoo, so we decided that it was time to go.  Austrialasia and Eurasia will have to wait for another visit.

Dinner was at Montana's in Ajax and we enjoyed a nice fajita meal to end our day...and I mean end.  Brian and I got home and went to bed at 9pm.
We were tired!
