Bee Sting

Well it has happened.  Hadley got her first bee sting yesterday at the zoo.
After a busy day of riding the new carousel on her choice of the dolphin (which was free for today only - going forward will be $5 per person), rolling down the hill by the flamingos, and seeing animals, we were on our way to see the polar bears when Hadley started to cry and point to her underarm.
It was clear that she had a sting.
I took her to the Caribou Cafe (the closest restaurant) and had a closer look.  I then talked with some zoo staff to see if there was staff at the nursing station as I would make the trek for her.  They confirmed there was and seconds later a man from another table who overheard our conversation walked over, opened his wallet and showed me that he was an ambulance attendant.
He had a look at Hadley's sting, confirmed that the stinger was out, and told me to ice it, and watch for swelling and make sure she talks and plays normally throughout the day.  If I noticed anything unusual I should have it checked out later but otherwise she should be okay.
After getting ice in a cup from the restaurant, I went outside to put some in a serviette for Hadley, and seconds later this same man came over with a clean plastic bag for our ice.
Hadley let me hold the ice on for a few minutes and then she wanted a break from the ice.
She began to play normally and there seems to be no further affects.
I was also reminded to watch the next time she is stung as that is usually the true test for an allergy.
What a blessing to have this man help out.  :)
