23 Weeks - Thumb sucking - May long weekend

2010-05-26 08:57:32 • by Leanne Verkley

23 wks LMP (21 wks gestation)
The baby weighs approx. 1.10 lbs or 501 grams and is approx. 11.38 inches or 28.9 cm long.
Meconium, the baby's first stool is developing.  We will likely see a lot of this come out after baby is born.
On a more exciting note, the baby can hear the my comforting heart and stomach sounds. I wonder if my hunger noises are comforting?
Vernix, which protects baby's skin from amniotic fluid, covers the entire skin and now a special type of fat called brown fat develops. This keeps baby warm at birth. It also provides nourishment while my milk is coming in.
Baby might begin to suck its thumb around now.  To go along with this, Hadley has almost no thumb sucking now except when she is really tired or bored,  YAY!

The May long weekend was pretty low key but we did manage to head up to the Cole cottage for a day taking in some of the best May 24th long weekend weather that I can remember.  Hadley loved playing in the sand, by the water, and with her toys outside.  She also loved the campfire, fireworks and sparklers.
On the Monday we celebrated Jason's birthday in Listowel and had a short visit with Anne Marie as well.
It was HOT at 35 Celsius but I am not complaining.  I would way rather be hot than cold.  :)
