Writing and Swimming

If I'm going to drive across two of the world's largest countries, I might as well write about my adventures as well as take photos.  I've had mixed success posting my adventure stories to the 'net in the past.  Some are documented well, must most are incomplete or non-existent.  This trip though, I should have access to the internet regularly so I thought I'd try to write along the way.  Who knows if that will turn out better or worse.  And if I'm going to write then anyway, I might as well start practicing.

Today we went swimming.  The end.  How'd you like my story?  heh.

Ok, more practice.

Leanne's friend Annie invited us to go swimming at the McLean center in Ajax today.  Leanne and Hadley go reasonably often but usually during the day mid-week and so I haven't been in about a year.  It will not be a year before I go again.

Hadley is still 2 and I expected her to have a reasonable level of fear about jumping in or swimming on her own.  Nope.  She picked up toys and headed in.  Ajax has a warm water kids pool that is sloped like the sand at a beach.  Nice gentle slope down until you can't touch.

Hadley rushes in on her own, sits on the bottom and starts playing with the rubber ducks she has picked up.  After a few minutes, Leanne takes her in deeper and with only a little hesitation, Hadley jumps off the edge into Leanne's waiting arms.  Then she attempts a doggy paddle over to me! We slide a pool noodle in under her arms and she is off on her own.  Well, on her own, but never far away.  She was so happy the whole time.  Two hours flew by as we splashed around, blew bubbles, floated and talked with friends.

I'm soo happy Hadley is willing to try new things and isn't afraid leap, suck up a little water, and then try to do better next time.  She has such a good spirit about her and I think we owe that to Leanne.  Leanne is so positive and encouraging to Hadley.  Always showing her new things.

I love my family.

It looks like you won't have too much trouble writing for your trip. Well done.  :)

Thanks, but I still need practice, and persistence.  I need to not only start a travel log, but to complete one.
