Metro News - Kilimanjaro

2006-07-05 23:23:40 • by Brian Verkley

There was a full page article about our Kilimanjaro climb in the Metro today. I suspect it should show up at http://www.metronews.ca/travel and or at http://www.metronews.ca/uploadedFiles/Metro_Toronto_0705_2006.pdf at some point.  The Metro is the "commuter" newspaper.  Small page size and just the right length for the GO Train.  Nearly everyone who rides Toronto transit to work reads it.

Jamie Duncan's cousin Brian Towie writes for the Metro.  He interviewed us a while ago, and the story ran today.

Kinda neat being in the paper again. I don't think I'll get recognized on the street though, as Leanne didn't even get recognized on the GO train with others reading the article right beside her. :-)

I'm so glad we went on that climb.  I know I had a great time.  Those memories will last forever.

I just checked and there are 18.5 million Metro readers per day in 93 cities in 21 countries.  I don't know if our story ran in more than the Toronto distribution but still interesting figures.

Oh and you are so right.  I loved every minute of our adventure.  I would love to go back to Africa!

Yeah, the old PDF doesn't work.  Be sure to download and save that. :)
You guys are famous!
Rob Downey (from work) was reading the Metro and stumbled upon the article.  We were surprised to see you guys in the paper, to say the least.  Good times.
