Pumpkin turns into Jack-o-lantern
Today we turned Hadley's precious pumpkin into a Jack-o-lantern.
She picked out her beautiful pumpkin one day while we were grocery shopping and almost every day since then she has hugged her pumpkin on the front porch whenever we went out.
She also said : I love you pumpkin.
Then today we told her that we were going to give him a face.
She said that he needed eyes, a nose and a mouth. I think she totally understood what was happening.
Brian cut off the top and Hadley and I dove in to remove the seeds and gunk.
Mostly she just stirred the seeds in the bowl with her spoon as she didn't want to get her hands dirty but still there was the odd time that she put her spoon in the actual pumpkin.
Afterwards she was quite happy to see that her pumpkin now had a face.
When the carving was complete we lit him up with a tea-light candle.
Wonderful.
With the candy purchased, the pumpkin carved, the front porch decorated and the girls costume ready, I now feel like Halloween can come.
