My Alero

After 10 years and 213 000 KM of making memories in my 1999 Green Oldsmobile Alero, the front spring broke.
This is a spring that basically holds the whole front of the car together.
I was told that this is normal after 10 years of wear and tear and that a rough road was likely the culprit.  (Well, I am not pointing any fingers, but I am  pleased to announce that after a few weeks of construction, we now have a beautiful new road outside of our house).
However, with a brutal scraping noise under my car and a quote of $1300 to fix, we decided that it was time to put my car to rest.  :(

After some investigation we found a wrecker that agreed to try to fix her and sell her for someone else to use if he can.  If not, he will send me a cheque for the parts.
I actually cried today.  It was hard to watch the tow truck carry her away.
It felt like a small portion of my independence went with her.
I know, we still have another car, but I am pretty sure there will not be anything like my FIRST car.

It was sad to see it go.  Good bye Alero.  You served us well.

Ahhh your first car.... I am already on my second car as my first car was the queen of all lemons, I even paid to replace the engine of it.. I was happy to see it go! I love my second car, 2002, it has 235919 on it and it is still going.. although my stablilizer bar is broke so it sounds like I am towing a wagon, but I figure on my 30th birthday I will get a new car :)

oh and my gas gauge doesn't work, and some other stuff, but it still runs. Did you take a picture of your car before it was taken away?
