What's happening on our streets?

The other night Brian and I attended a meeting for traffic congestion calming on Rands and Finley.
The meeting was an open house for people in the area to learn about options and give suggestions as to what can be done to slow people down on Finley and minimize traffic on the east end of Rands as an alternative to getting to Westney.
The good news is that the Police, Ambulance, and Fire Departments all wish to keep speed bumps out.
There were a few good suggestions that came up:
1.  Make Finley wider and mark a right turning lane at Finley and Westney so that the traffic can turn right on a red. Minimizing the long line up of cars during peak times.
2.  Mark crosswalks with textured pavement to slow cars down.
3. Put in pretty islands in the middle of the roads or increase curbs to encourage cars to slow down.

It will be a year before anything actually happens but I still think it was important that we attended.  The proposals will be ready in the next few months for the residents to reveiw.
