Super Bowl & Hadley's first time being babysat
Yesterday Brian, Hadley and I headed to Barrie where we normally go to watch the Super Bowl. (My college friend Cort is really into football so it seems appropriate to watch it at his house with many other friends that also join in for the party).
Every year before the game starts there is always a snow football game played and while I assumed those that couldn't play due to pregnancy, injury or whatever other excuse they could come up with, would at least come to watch, that was not the case. There were no spectators that we knew just a few people playing in the park. So this presented a challenge. Hadley has never been babysat by anyone before. She has always been with at least one of her parents.
However, both Brian and I wanted to play and with two nurses, a new mom and a few others around it seemed like a great situation to leave her for the first time. Plus we were only a few blocks away with a cell phone on hand for any emergencies.
We let her know that we were leaving and apparently that was enough for her to get on with her day. (Well, the three hours that we were out).
The update was that she did all the regular stuff like eat, read stories, play and lead people around. There was no report that she went looking for us or was upset in anyway. This is good news.
While I did think of her lots while I was out, I strangely didn't worry at all. I felt we left her in good hands despite my original thoughts that she would be babysat by a family member for the first time.
Brian and I had a great time playing snow football playing on opposing teams. While it was all for fun, our team scored three touch downs and Brian's team scored one.
We enjoyed many snacks and a great game with the Steelers winning their sixth Super Bowl against the Cardinals 27-23. Brian's sister Julie will be very happy!
Hadley chose the underdog - Cardinals - to win this year. Last year this boded well for her but this year Cort's sisters baby McKenna chose the winning team. We let the babies choose by pointing at the team they thought would win. Perhaps Cort and Sherri-Lyn's baby that is due in July will pick the winner next year???
The drive home was late but it was another successful Super Bowl Sunday!

I am ,however, sad Hadley did not choose the Steelers, perhaps it is because the Cardinals have a better logo. I will have to teach her to love the Steelers though....I mean, they are the best!
