Blogs Down - Lots to update
I am alive. Our blogs have been down.
A few updates from this week:
Creative Play opened in Ajax. They had a free day on their first day for 2 years and younger so Hadley and I went to check it out.
It is an old warehouse turned into a play area.
They have a brandnew wood climber, but it was reserved for 3 and up. They had a really cool trampoline that Hadley loved as it had handles for her to hold onto. She played on that quite a bit. As well she really liked the little tikes toy car. There was a train that she could sit on and push a button to move around a track but she wasn't really interested in it. It reminded me of a small version of Ricky Schroders Silver Spoons from the 80s. Besides that it seemed like it was two moms that put their kids toys in a room and are now charging $5 for people to use them. They had a craft area but the tables (on day one) already had glitter stuck to them and crayon drawn all over them). No crafts were available while we were there.
They did have couches all over the room for moms to chat while watching their kids play so that would be kind of cool if you came with other moms.
I am glad it was free. Perhaps we will give it another try in the future after they have had it open for a while. After all, it is only a 10 minute walk from our house.
I tried out Moms and Tots at the Salvation Army Church this week. It was free and fun. There was an hour of free play with the church toys, then we made silver bells out of silver paper cups, ribbon and bells. This was followed by singing, story time and announcements.
We met up with Lori and Audrey at their house on Tuesday afternoon. Lori is now back to work full time so it was nice to catch up with her to see how life is. We played with the girls outside and went for a walk around her neighbourhood without strollers. The girls loved the freedom.
I had a scrapbooking night out this month which was unusual but fun.
Ley from my babyville group hosted and while I got 4 pages done (AWESOME), it was hard to travel with all my stuff! One day if I ever get a Costco membership I will get a cool carry case that rolls like luggage. Everyone has them and apparently they are cheap (only $30).
(Ley is going back to work on Monday and wanted to host this time so as to use all of her materials for this session. I guess she has the same problem, she wants to bring everything when she comes to my house but it is too much.
Focus on Toddlers at the Early Years Centre this week had a playdoh theme. We made red Kool-Aid playdoh.
I got the recipes for cinnamon, cocoa, and a few others that were at different tables. Maybe we will try those sometime.
This week we also had a rare dinner party outing at our good friends Michelle and Derek's. We travelled downtown Toronto to their house, and enjoyed a beautiful dinner with great conversation. It has been a while since we have seen them so it was nice to spend some quality time catching up.
On Friday we went to Music and Movement class at the Library. This is my favorite free class! Hadley usually dances up a storm, runs around and has a great time. However this week she was tired from our outing the night before so she actually just wanted to be held while I rocked, and moved to the music.
Speaking of dancing though, Hadley now dances in circles which makes her dizzy but she loves it and when she gets really into it she is up on her tip toes. It is the cutest thing.
Friday afternoon we went and met up with my friend Christine and her son Dean. We spent a mellow afternoon just catching up while the two toddlers played by our side.
Today we went to Little Feet Fitness and Fun Centre where we met up with out babyville group. It has been since August since we last got together so it was fun to see how much the babies had changed.
Looking back it has been a busy week!
In other updaes:
Hadley has been great about getting her shoes for us to put on her from the door for a while now. However we have recently switched to boots and although the first few days she wanted to find her shoes, she now can find her boots when asked.
While boots at the door was a little confusing, I later realized that she had two boots in her life. Boots is also a character in her Dora book. She seems unaffected that they have the same name and she can point out Boots the character on a few pages of her book. As for chicken, she has toy chickens but she also will approve to eat chicken if we ask. Again she seems unaffected that they have the same name.
Hadley now has added "no" to her vocabulary. It is more of a neh while shaking her head no and very cute. She only uses it when she really doesn't want something. She is still a very positive kid and will say ya most of the time.
I am sure there are more new words that I haven't written about but Hadley now attempts the word buckle after dinner when she wants out of her highchair. It is more like bubeh.
Lucky Chams: Hadley LOVES them. She will eat all the marshmellows first and then eat a few of the rest of the cereal. Pink stains really well so I tend to eat those from her bowl. :)
Baby monitor: I am now pretty confident that I will hear Hadley through the night so starting this week, I now only use it when we are downstairs. No more ticking clock through the monitor during my rest time. :)
That's it for now. Time to motor Ricky Shroder.
