Hadleyism's

After frequenting another mommy blog, I was inclined to use the posted idea of a writing down a few things that describe Hadley at the moment.

1.  Ya.
She says ya to almost anything we ask her.  Although she uses it to answer appropriately in most situations, she definitely uses it A LOT!  Today she was just walking around going "ya ya ya ya ya" . She also uses ya in question if she would like permission to do something.  She does however, let us know if she means no by moving her head side to side.

2.  Communication
She doesn't really repeat many words but we know that she knows a lot.
We can ask her to help us with many tasks and she does exactly what she is supposed to.  If she wants something, she somehow points, or uses the previously mentioned ya or no to let us know if we are on the same page.
We try to use key words so that we can get to this same page more quickly.
Hungry, diaper, drink, door, shoes, help, leave it there, etc.

3. Verbal Words used consistently
She can say a few words including:
Ya, dad, ere (there), wa (water), up, no, mom (no and mom are rare).

4. Sign language
She taps her little fingers together for the more symbol to mean food or water.

5. Stairs
She usually climbs just a few stairs and then sits but if she needs a diaper change she will climb right to the top.  She is getting more and more confident with the stairs both up and down.

6. Waving
If we say: hi, see ya later, good night, or good bye, or something of the like, she will wave.

7. Ball
She will try to put her arms out to pick up a rolled ball to her but will walk it most of the way back to you and then drop it or hand it to you.
If we hold a ball up to her waist she will push it down to the floor and start to laugh.  She also enjoys chasing after a rolled ball.

8. Eating
She loves to hold utensils but prefers to eat with her fingers.
She tries to use the utensils but I think she finds it too slow.
Her favorite food at the moment is yogurt (any flavour).  She is pretty patient with me feeding her messy foods which makes for minimal cleanup.  However, sometimes she wants to do it all by herself.
She feeds herself most of the time but things like applesauce, yogurt, pudding and such, I try to feed her.

9. Her favorite book
She likes lots of books but today she played with the Goodnight Moon book quite a bit.  I try to read to her everyday so she knows a lot of different books.

10. Music
She knows how to turn the music on the CD player but has no idea how to push the play button.  She knows something in the play button area needs to be pushed but can't figure out exactly what.  However, the big power button with the red light comes easy to her.
She loves to play her musical instruments and we love to hear her songs.  She pushes down the keys on the xylophone that my dad got her almost every day.  She has many other instruments and musical toys that she also likes to push buttons to make them work.

11.  Helping
Hadley is quite the little helper.  She loves to push clothes that I hand her into the dryer, she will pick up the silverware out of the dishwasher and hand them to me, she loves to water the plants out front with the watering can and she will take things to the recycling bin when asked.  (However, this usually results in her finding something interesting in said bin that she wishes to take out.

Hadley's little personality makes us smile.

Hugging and Kissing:  How could I forget this.  Hadley loves to show us that she loves us by giving us open mouth kisses.  Also, whenever she sees Brian and I hugging, she drops what she is doing and runs to us to also be hugged.  It is very cute.

Two more things:
Her favorite song is Swallowed by the sea by Cold Play.  She will sit with her daddy and be calmed instantly.
She also loves it when Brian dances and sings this song to her.

Speaking of Brian.  She sometimes says Brian instead of dad.
