College Reunion

2008-07-23 08:30:11 • by Leanne Verkley

Yesterday I met up with two old roommates from college:  Rhona and Christine.
Recently, within the past two months, Rhona returned from Oman (the middle east) to Canada and is actually now a Canadian citizen. (Although she admits that she still doesn't know the anthem in full).
She was in Canada for a few years, then spent a few years in the states then she went home and applied for Canadian citizenship and now she is back.
She is working downtown Toronto, and since Christine lives in Brantford, and I am in Ajax, this seemed like the best place to meet.
We decided to try out the new patio at Jack Astors (Yonge and Dundas Square).  It was quite good.
The patio was quite warm but it had great atmosphere, a great view and they had water misters that would provide a "small" amount of relief to the heat.
We talked, ate, and laughed a lot!
After a two hour lunch, Rhona had to go back to work but Christine and I spent some time in Dundas Square, and then we moved to Nathan Phillips Square.
Hadley and I caught the GO train home and actually met a new friend.
Shawn and her daughter Isabelle live in Whitby and we seemed to have a lot in common.  Isabelle is 9 months old and they go to the zoo once a week.
I gave her my email address and maybe we will hook up one of these times.
Another fun day in our life.
