Vacation

This past week we were on vacation!
Friday night we started by taking Hadley to the Toronto Zoo.  Now this might not seem like a vacation thing to do as we go often.  However, Brian and I wanted to take Hadley to the Stingray Bay exhibit together and we finally were able to do so.    Both Brian and I touched the stingrays (which was a little like petting fish), but Hadley didn't.  Which was okay since they eat shellfish and Hadley shouldn't have that until she is three.

Saturday we met up with Steve and Brent to go see a Blue Jays game in Toronto against the Atlanta Braves.  The Jays haven't played them since 1992 in Toronto so this was a special game to attend.  Cito Gaston vs Bobby Cox rematch too!

Sunday we spent the day getting prepared to be away for the week; and Monday we headed to Ottawa.
We took Hadley to our nations capital for the Canada Day Celebrations.
It was crazy busy, with people everywhere, but it was so much fun.
We met up with Shaye, John, Patti-Jo, Julie and Pat.
We sang O-Canada with the masses, watched a parade. watched the changing of the guard, the musical ride of the RCMP, and the snow birds fly over parliament hill.
There was so much going on that we couldn't take it all in, but we did our best.  We managed to see the Terry Fox Van that was on display.  http://www.tourofhope.ca/
We ended the day by enjoying a beautiful "make tax payers proud" fireworks display!
I love Ottawa!

We had a side adventure that evening as we were staying in Alymer and the buses apparently stopped before we made it back to the hotel.  So, with us singing show tunes on the street we waited to see if one would come by, but eventually took a taxi to the Chateau Cartier for a good night's sleep.  It was after 1:00 am and Hadley was still awake and happy!
In the morning we enjoyed a nice morning dip in their pool before we checked out.
After exploring the ByWard market and getting some fresh fruit, we headed to Bon Echo to camp for two nights.
We went on some hikes, saw some deer, and enjoyed the beautiful park and the great outdoors.
Hadley was a great camper!

From here we went to Listowel to spend the night with my sister while Brian spent the night out with his friend Derek for his stag.  (You will have to ask him for details on that).

Speaking of Brian, we met up with him by noon the next day and headed for the Pinery for some more camping.  This time on Lake Huron with Brian's Uncle Phil, and Jeff and their families, plus a few of their friends and extended relatives.

We spent the first day on the beach, (Hadley didn't like the cold water at all).
Doreen and Kiana made solar s'mores that were SOOOO GOOD!  Then that evening Hadley experienced her first campfire.
She fell asleep too early at the other camping adventures.

On Sunday Kiana read LOTS of books to Hadley, and we played a game called, keep yourself out of the poison ivy.  It was good fun.  Brian went canoeing with Jeff.
On our way home we stopped off to visit with my mom and Pat in Exeter.
When we got home, I realized how much laundry and clean up is required after a trip.
I am exhausted!
It was a great week!
