On TV
Today Hadley and I were at the zoo with our friends Lori and her daughter Audrey and Beth and her daughter Clara.
While there we saw many indoor exhibits that the girls thought were very interesting. We managed to hit the gorilla exhibit at just the right time, seeing them just as food was set out for them which resulted in a fight between two of them. The babies seemed to love watching the movement of this exhibit but were in awe of the big wall of fish which were just around the corner from the gorillas. I think they could have watched the fish for hours holding up their little hands against the glass. Saying oooh ooooh. It was so cute and fun to watch.
Viewing the animals was only part of our experience today. Of course we had our own little photo shoot throughout the pavilion, but still there was more to the day.
We were asked by CBC if we would like to be on the evening news to be included on a segment about weather in Toronto and the upcoming family day. This was Hadley's first time on TV so that was kind of cool.
After the interview we talked with and shook hands with the minister of labour, Brad Duguid, who was interested in how we would be spending our first upcoming family day. We were also in pictures for his own publicity around this new holiday, so it was quite a day for us at the zoo.
It is kind of interesting that this is the first year that there will be a family day and it is the first year that Brian, Hadley and I are together.
Sometimes I think it is just plain cool that we have a daughter.
