New Years Eve
Well, this year was a little different than other years. 1. I am still nursing and 2. We had to worry about Hadley's sleep.
We decided to have a few friends over to our house instead of going out. There were six adults, one baby (Shawn B, Shawn K, Delena, Shaye, Brian and myself, plus Hadley). This worked out really well.
We played boardgames and video games all night while munching on pizza and snacks. I am happy to say that I am smarter than a 5th grader...with Shawn K's help of course as we played in teams.
Hadley went to bed at 8:30pm, woke up at 11:30pm, but fed and was changed and then she was back to sleeping.
So we continued to party.
Just before midnight we turned on Dick Clark and counted down. Every year I think of how it was to stand in Times Square...waiting to pee...Oh, I mean...waiting for the snow globe of confetti to drop on us. For 2008 though, it was a little lower key, at midnight we used our noisemakers and rang in 2008. I did have a sip of champagne to toast the event but then we went up to Hadley's room to wish her a Happy New Year also. However, she merely rolled over and sighed.
We put the hat and noisemaker in her crib with her anyway and took a picture as this was her first New Years.
(For more photos see Brian's blog linked on the right side bar).
Four hours later we found ourselves playing the Wii and I began to think...should I stay up until Hadley gets up or try to get some sleep.
Well, I went for the sleep option but at 5am, I wasn't sure I made the right choice. However, she easily went back to sleep until 9:30am.
Perfect.
I got up before everyone and made pancakes for breakfast and tried to tidy up a little.
Once Hadley woke up so did everyone else...slowly.
The day has been pretty low key, with beautiful white fluffy snow coming down to bring in 2008.
Happy New Year!
