Father's Day Weekend
Although we had a jam packed weekend with extended family, I will just take the time to talk about our first Father's Day celebrations.
Sunday morning we woke up early and headed to Rotary Park where we enjoyed a pancake breakfast by the lake. Joining us for the day were our good friends the Legault's. (Rob, Christine and their 22 month old son Matthew).
From here we headed to the Toronto Zoo. We were hoping to be one of the first 99 fathers to enter, but at just after 9 a.m. we were too late. (Mix 99.9 the radio station was sponsoring the first 99 father free into the park). We enjoyed our day none-the-less and even ended up transferring our entry fee to a yearly pass which we purchased at the end of the day. We spent a good portion of the day at the zoo but I am glad I will be going back as there is so much to see and do there. This time was the first time that we ventured into the kidzone water park. Mathew and Rob went in to cool down while Brian, Christine, Hadley and I spent some time in the shade. We decided after this that we would venture into the interactive kidzone area where kids could climb on spiderwebs made of rope, or sit in giant pretend turtle shells. Brian even popped his head out of a hole pretending to be a prairie dog. There were all sorts of things like this for kids to explore. Hadley will love this in a few years I am sure. After the zoo we went home for REST.
Rob, Christine and Mathew joined back up with us for dinner. We enjoyed some BBQ'd food back at Rotary park while listening to local bands, and watching local talent perform. At dusk we enjoyed a fantastic display of fireworks over the lake...It just worked out that Ajax's home week was winding down on Father's Day so there were lots of activities to help us celebrate Brian's first Father's Day. I think it was a success!
