Oh ya, I have needs too...
Hadley is now just over two months old and it is time to introduce a little bit of normalcy and structure back into our lives.
First the normalcy. This week I tried out the stars and strollers program at the local cineplex odeon. This is where movies are shown and everyone in the audience knows that they may hear crying babies throughout. It is $7.50, and it was such a nice adult moment. I can now join in on conversation about recent movies. :) Sadly, Brian can't come as it it during the day. But, I still think I will try this outing whenever I can. I put Hadley in her sling and she slept through the whole movie.
It is so easy to get into patterns of giving everything you have to your baby and forgetting about yourself.
From this, I decided that it was time to start regular nap times. I was given a book on how to establish regular sleep patterns but I just haven't had a chance to read it as I didn't really know when Hadley was sleeping. Ironic. So, today I decided to take the plunge and just put Hadley in her crib and close the blinds for a morning nap. Well, she slept for two and a half hours. (I got so much done around the house)! When she woke up we read some Robert Munch books, had lunch, and played before I put her back in her crib for an afternoon nap. This one only lasted an hour. However, with regulated nap times I may just get a chance to read some of the books we have been given.
I hope that these sleeps during the day won't negatively affect her night sleeping as she seems to be doing okay in that department. She usually sleeps for five to six hours once we put her down, wakes up to feed, and then sleeps for another two or three hours before getting up for the day.
With a little effort on my part, I believe I can get some me time back. Even if it is only to do the laundry / clean the house, or check my email. Whatever me moment I need that day will help me to be a stronger person for Hadley and for Brian and most importantly for myself.
I may even watch Oprah! :)
