I love our daughter

Well, labour was hard, and long! The long and short of it is that I am so glad I went the midwife route, with the hospital delivery.  I can't thank the midwives enough for everything they did for us.  From home care, to hospital care, every detail was for Hadley's and my best interest.  Brian was also amazing!  He was up all 40 plus hours with me and I don't think I could have handled the pain without his support.  Gatoraide kept me going before the IV and epidural was inserted after approximately 30 hours.  Eight-ish hours later Hadley was born at 2:37pm on Tuesday March 20, 2007.  All 8 pounds and 21 inches of her ended up being delivered by OBGYN Dr. Oudueke after my partial transfer of care as she required a vacuum delivery.  She had her head tilted slightly but once it was time, she came out quickly and I couldn't have been happier!  It was instant love!

That night she had her first visitors (Mandy and Joe) who arrived at the hospital.  After meeting her, and visiting for a bit they helped me get ready to head home.  I was in some pain but glad to be going home.  That night we set alarms to make sure she fed at regular intervals.

Over the next few days we had many visitors, and amazing help from Grandma (Anne Marie) Verkley.  Meals and laundry were taken care of, as were many other things.  Thursday I was down and out with lots of pain, but Friday was a little better.  Over the weekend we had more visitors.  We were also spoiled with gifts and flowers.

On her one week birthday if you can call it that, we experienced our first day of just the three of us.
From the lack of sleep Brian became sick this week and so I had to step up my healing a little bit, but it was okay.  So far I haven't been able to really tackle any housework other than dishes in the dishwasher.  (Brian has been doing the laundry).  So if you come visit ignore the mess.

Today is Brian's last day of vacation.  We have the weekend left and then he heads back to work.  We will miss him lots when he isn't here.

We are starting to understand her cries a little bit which is helpful in keeping her happy.  We love our happy Hadley!

I forgot to note that only a few hours after delivery (just before we went home) she was 7 lbs, 12 oz.

As mentioned on Brian's blog she was 7 lbs, 5 oz on the 22nd.  On the 24th she was up to 7 lbs, 7 oz., and by the 27th, she was 7 lbs 8 oz.

The update to that is that as of March 29th she was 7 lbs 10 oz. Keep growing Hadley!

Grandma Verkley was a wonderful support when each of my babies were born and it was a privilege to share those first days with the "new family" and take on that new role myself. THANK YOU Brian and Leanne for lovely Hadley.
