And we still have Sunday to go...
Friday night our eastender friends had a 30th birthday / baby celebration for us. I started by taking the afternoon off of work so that we could be there around 4:30pm. This is helpful when so many kids are involved as we can spend more time together before they have to do bedtime routines.
So we got to Teresa and Brian who had a lovely display of appetizers ready and chili brewing. Which by the way was amazing chili! Rob, Christine and their little boy Mathew were already there as well. So we began the updating and playing with their kids. Owen had a good amount of energy and it was fun to see his excitement about the party. Baby Andrew was showing off how he could now roll himself over, and Mathew was a leg hugger at this point. Shawn and Jen showed up next, and then Andrew and Joanne. We continued to chat and eat and then came the presents. Brian and I were again spoiled by lots of things that will come in handy for the baby and lots of friends who could share stories about what to expect in the coming days.
We were having such a good time that we continued chatting even when Teresa put Owen and Andrew to bed. At about 9:30pm Rob and Christine took Mathew home, but the evening continued on as Andrew and Joanne didn't bring Jillian and Gracie so they could stay and not worry about their evening routines too much. By 11 or so though we did decide that we should all get some sleep.
Saturday I did some MUCH needed running around to pick up things that I had acquired on a list throughout the week. This took much of the day. Plus, I had my hair done for the evenings dinner and dance at work. I was lucky to have found a dress, and shoes and even though I did feel big, I felt like I was ready for a party! We arrived downtown and went to get Brian's new birthday watch adjusted before heading to the King Edward Hotel. (Finally)
After arriving at about 6:30pm, we mingled through the cocktail hour, and then enjoyed a fantastic meal. There was dancing afterwards and I did get up for a few songs but it was a bit tiring. Brian won a jacket for being able to provide the Leafs hockey score from his blackberry, which I later traded up for a jersey at the end of the night. :)
We had a good time and talked the whole way home in the cab which was of course paid for by the company.
We will have to go get my car today at the GO station among other things on the list to achieve but that is another story.
