Julie's Kids for the weekend
Julie's kids came for their weekend at our house and I always love spending time with them! Of course there was so much swing time, but also, climbing and dandelion wishes, time up and down the slide, and this year we got out the sprinkler.
Selinah and I played a few rounds of Uno, while Jordan and I raced cars down the track we made. We coloured and crafted making light up night light boxes, and bracelets, and a dog tag for Selinah's stuffed animal Millie. Jordan was so proud that he knew how to make the bracelets with pipe cleaners already because he had done it in school. He was happy to show me how. Selinah's crafting required glue as she liked adding pom pom's do her crafts. We played a Red Rover game to find colours, shapes and numbers. I still had it from when my kids were little. I brought out Pengoloo, a memory game that they quite enjoyed. But the winner was introducing them to the Nintendo Switch where they played Mario games. By the end of day one, they went to bed within minutes.
Day two started with some Mario toys that I forgot I still had and Jordan LOVED them. I think they may have been from McDonalds? Selinah played with a 101 Dalmatian puppy collection I had, also from McDonalds. Then I brought out some large puzzles and that occupied their time for almost 20 minutes. By this time it was maybe 8:30am...so time for a walk. We got ready with carrots in tow and headed out to see and feed the horses. The neighbours let us also come over to see their chickens. When we got back it was more crafting and colouring. They can do that for a while.
Jordan has a real love of music and was very interested in playing the guitar. So we brought out Easton's toy guitar that he started with and he was so happy. Uncle Brian played with him and Easton played his bigger guitar too. The kids found a toy kitchen and tool table under the stairs, so first things first... we brought them outside to wash the dust off. Then, they played with these for hours! Restaurant and Mr. Fix it.
After lunch I got them to help me spread some fresh soil in my garden. They loved helping me water the plants too. They wanted to explore the lawn tractor when we were outside so they pretended to drive. When we got inside they found a vet set amongst the toys and played that for a while. Selinah even checked out her own heart. Switching from Vet to Doctor. At one point Jordan just snuggled in for some cuddles which was so lovely. We managed to find a football and Jordan was so happy when he got to play with Easton and even catch it. Selinah was more into the swings while we played catch but she even showed off her jump rope skills on our deck. All in all another full day.
Day Three, we went out the yard for a morning run where the kids raced. Then I remembered that I won a giant connect 4 game from Brian's cousin Patrick and Meg's wedding shower, so we got that out and put it togther and the kids played a life sized game of connect 4. Julie was back around lunch time so this day was much shorter but still fun. Jordan's Luigi was sadly left behind, but so far he hasn't noticed, so I will have to get it back to him ASAP. Thankful for my weekend with these kids.
