March

March was full of hockey for Easton but this is the month that it all wound down.  He finished the school league first, then the house league, which his grandpa (Brian's dad) came to watch the last game, and now we have just a little more Select before moving on to summer hockey, which he has decided to do this year instead of soccer.
Hadley and I watched the Oscars and the Grand Ole Opry 100 years special as well as our regular weekly The Voice episodes.
Swimming lessons wrapped up for both kids.  Hadley finished her level 6 and has decided that is as far as she would like to go and Easton is moving on to Bronze Medallion.  Easton joined track and field and practices 2 days a week now that school hockey has finished.
March Break was much lower key this year as Brian has been swamped with work and the kids just needed a break.  Easton and I did however go snow tubing at Lakeridge and Hadley and I spent a day wandering around the mall.
For Hadley's birthday on the 20th, I picked her up early from school as she had a spare at the end of the day, and she was greeted with flowers sent to her from her grandma (Brian's mom), and then I took her to Dairy Queen for a Blizzard treat.  Progress Reports and parent teacher interviews were great.  The interviews were unfortunately scheduled on her birthday, so we made a quick 1 hour trip to visit with the teachers before heading to Neb's Fun World.  Which has been greatly upgraded since the last time we were there and is more like a teenage hot spot now rather than a little kid fun place.  Here we played two games of bowling and had some fun at the arcade fun centre.  We came home and had Dairy Queen ice cream cake and she opened presents.  Brian was travelling for work, so on the weekend when he was home we treated her to Mandarin for a great buffet meal!
Guitar lessons are still weekly for Easton but now with daily classes at school, he just picks it up and plays and teaches himself songs.  This week was the theme song to Super Mario.  I love listening to him play.
Something chewed through our internet wire outside so we are waiting on a new cable, but delivery has been challenging.  We are almost at week three with no internet, (the kids DO NOT love that), but I have supplemented my cellular hotspot for quick searches, and when video or school work needs better internet, the library has been our friend.  Hoping the new wire comes in the next few days.  Hadley has been watching a lot of game shows (trivia style) and Easton has encouraged a lot of board game play.  He even baked some cookies.
It is strange how reliant we are on the internet now.  Refreshing to step back from it a little though I will be happy to have regular access back.
This week there was a tremendous ice storm just north of us.  Some may be almost a week without power.  My friend Shaye is staying with a friend with a generator until she has power restored.  Thinking of all those impacted.
Looking forward to a lovely spring.
