January
January was full of hockey with two days a week for house league, two days a week for the school league and one day a week for select for Easton.
Hadley had her graduation photos taken, and day by day we watch as she prepares for post secondary life next year. We are both not quite ready emotionally but in my heart, I can see all the possibilities for her happiness.
Swimming lessons are in full swing. Both kids are in level 6, we are still playing catch up from Covid.
We went to watch Mama Mia at the kids' school. The drama club did such a great job. We later came home to watch the movie. The songs have been in our heads for days.
The band Sum 41 from Ajax is retiring, so they came back to Ajax to do a farewell meet and greet at the community centre. While we didn't get tickets, they posted the interview live online so we were able to watch it there. They also temporarily named a street near their old highschool after the band.
Brian and I continue to play floor hockey every Tuesday night. The group is a really good group and it is nice to get out and play.
We went to Listowel to celebrate Brian's dad's milestone 75th birthday. We had a potluck, with cake, played pool and other games and celebrated such a lovely milestone.
The Greenwood community is such a fun little community near us and this year the conditions have been perfect for building an outdoor rink. The dads in the area have been very busy to achieve the best ice we have seen since we moved here. We have gone so many times, including a day where the kids' old public school had me come to volunteer for a day when they had an outdoor fun day, including a skating day.
Exams were successful and semester two is off to a good start. Easton has a guitar class this semester and this is the first time since he started taking lessons when he was 8 that I noticed him just picking up the guitar to play for fun. I have never made him practice, just weekly lessons. Same with Hadley and her piano lessons. They both had the option to stop or continue after grade 8. Easton chose to continue lessons with Justin and now he is also doing lessons in school. And now... I hear guitar around the house and it is so lovely. It is my heart music.
There was a huge fire in LA, and Hadley and I watched the FireAid music fundraiser for those that lost their homes. We also watch the voice. I love that we do these things together.
January somehow felt really long as there were many days with lots of snow, which we haven't had in many years. The neighbour has come over and helped to clear our lane a few times and has made some fun hills to play on.
I love the snow as long as driving safely is possible.
Seasons are fun!
