The first weekend in June, my friend Melissa and I had this wonderful idea to get things out of our house at a garage sale.  We set up the night before at her house in town, and we each filled about three tables worth of stuff, all priced to go.  Well, apparently garage sales are a thing of the past with all the effort, signs up, online posts to get people there and the carting back and forth... not worth it.  However, we did get in good visiting time and we did take the time while we made our very few sales to take photos of things and post them online to the marketplace on facebook and miraculously we made more sales from that than the actual garage sale.  I think it helped that I was able to post an in town pick up location.
A fun experience but so much work.

Easton went to the area meet for track and field after winning a ribbon for every event that he participated in at school level.
At the area meet in Oshawa he was able to compete in three events.  The teacher picked for him.  He was chosen for triple and long jump as well as 4X100 relay.  He got 4th in relay and 8th in triple jump.  It was fun to see him compete on a real track and against 13 other schools.  He loved it!

Julie has an annual girls weekend away and this is our opportunity to have her kids spend three days with us.  Jordan is really into music so we brought out the guitar, and keyboard.  He played on them all weekend.  Mostly the keyboard.  Since we had two, we sent him home with one.  We also spent much of the weekend outdoors: at the swings, the slide, sandbox, and we were fortunate enough to have Synthia let the kids feed, pet, and brush her horse Delphina.  We picked flowers, went for a walk, built structures, played with toys, made pictures, had many snacks, did some gardening, and made cars out of old boxes, stickers and markers where they watched a drive in movie until Julie arrived on the last day.  I think they had a great time.  We were all exhausted by the end of the three days.  It is great being an aunt... back to regular sleep!

Floor Hockey ended for the year.  We had a great group of people meet up every Tuesday at Pringle Creek Public School in Whitby.  We would play for two hours, with light breaks between games.  We usually got in 3 games, playing first to five.  It was competitive, but fun-competitive and encouraging.

Background school stuff: Easton has been working hard on his historica website, and science fair project and Hadley has had some year end projects as well with exams in the near future.

On June 12th we celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary!  Time really does fly when you are having fun.  Life is busy, so we celebrated by going out for lunch at Parkwood National Historic Site in Oshawa.  We walked around the gardens, and had a lovely lunch by the fountains at the tea house.  It was nice to walk hand in hand and think about all the crazy fun things we have done together.

June 13th Easton's school had a volunteer tea to thank all those who put their time in to make the school a better place for the kids.  We had the lunchroom supervisors, the bus drivers, the parent council, and anyone else that volunteers here and there.  It was lovely to be around these people as we all want the best for our school community.  I was honored by being told I would once again receive the volunteer of distinction.  I will have an event in the fall at the board office.  What a way to go out!  I am thankful to be able to be there and they are thankful that I am there.  Wow!

Both Hadley and Easton had a trip to Canada's Wonderland this year.  Hadley went with her Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) group at school.  She went with her friend Victoria who she spends every day with at her Co-op.  They enjoy the same type of rides and get along really well.  It was Hadley's first time managing on her own at Wonderland.  She used her debit card for the first time for her meals as they no longer have cash at the park.  She got herself around the park and back to the bus on time, with souvenirs in hand.  She came home all smiles.  I was so proud of her.
Easton went with the band.  I volunteered to drive the instruments so I got to go too.  I met the grade 8's at Wonderland, we had about two hours until they performed so our group went on two rides that had small line ups and grabbed some food before heading back to the performance area.  We spent about two hours performing, and being guided by a professional about how to improve.  Mr. Cooper, our music teacher, is great, so there was a little room for improvement but he does such a great job with the kids!  Then we had about three hours to do more rides.  We got in three more rides and more food before meeting back up with the group.  My pass was bought for me from the school and included a day pass, a parking pass, and an all day dining pass.  I could get certain foods every 90 minutes.  I would do this again!  Grade 8 boys are always hungry!  Easton rode back with me in the van and when all the kids got back to the school everyone helped to unload the instruments.  It was a fun day to spend with Easton.  I am glad I was able to go with him.

Father's day weekend was quiet.  We enjoyed some time at home, got some things done around here, chopping wood, etc.  Brian requested a smoked pork chop bbq meal with mini salted potatoes and BBQ'd veggies.  It was so yummy!

This brings us to the middle of June.
