Easter
Easter weekend was a busy one. On Friday night after school we got ready quickly and headed to Listowel. We embraced the Easter weekend traffic in order to have a night at the Bender's where we could hang out with friends while in Listowel. Easton loved that he and Todd could catch up and we talked until very late that night. Hadley and Julia are different in age, but somehow have this great thing about them where they allow for each other to do their own thing and enjoy a girls sleepover too.
Then Saturday morning we all got up and went to a local farm where they sell maple syrup. One day a year they do a pancake breakfast in a sugar shack, they give a tour of how the syrup is boiled down and have horse drawn wagon rides, and of course they have a mini market where we got some treats. This time we also tried maple flavoured cotton candy.
After this we headed to my dad's house to meet up with my siblings, and the cousins got together to learn from their uncle Joe how to play blackjack. We enjoyed a nice chinese take out dinner, and cupcakes we found at the market to celebrate Brenda, my dad, and Hadley's birthdays, as well as Easter.
That evening we headed over to Brian's mom's house for a sleepover before having Julie and her kids join us the next day for more Easter fun. There was turkey, dressing, and all the fun stuff that a big meal brings with family. We spent the day prepping, and preparing the meal and also got some outdoor park time. Selinah was especially helpful with dumping in ingredients and stirring anything that needed stirring. We sang Happy Birthday again to Julie and Hadley and more cupcakes were fully enjoyed.
On the actual day for Easter we were at home and this year we did an egg hunt outside where if you were lucky enough you might just find a lucky loonie inside an egg.
The cats had their birthday as well. They are now 6 years old. We celebrated by giving them cat treats and a new cat toy.
Who knew there were so many birthday celebrations to celebrate in such a short period of time.
Welcome to spring!
