A few updates: Halloween, Stone Bathroom, Cross Country, Selinah's Birthday, Vaccine Booster, Volleyball, Nathan's Birthday
This year we embraced a regular Halloween. The kids picked out costumes, Hadley was a medieval renaissance princess, and Easton was a pirate.
Both kids wore their costumes to school. Hadley also had a party on the weekend with three friends as she wasn't sure she would trick or treat. She and her friends all dressed up. Dakota was a dragon character from D&D, and she only spoke in a Russian accent all night, Aarti was a devil and Naysa was a Mafia Boss. They hung out in the basement, ate all kinds of candy and chips, played music, decorated a Halloween themed gingerbread house, went out on the swings and made calls to other friends that couldn't attend.
On Halloween night Hadley wasn't sure if she would trick or treat but came in costume and walked around with us only to be invited by every house to also grab a treat. I think most houses were just happy any kids were out after two years of almost no kids and embraced any age kids. She was pretty happy.
We also bumped into Matthew and Ellie and it felt like the good old days.
The last few weeks we have been working hard at putting the stone up in the upstairs bathroom. We just have to upgrade the electrical as we think gray outlets will look a lot nicer. It took about five full days but it looks amazing.
Easton participated in Cross Country at school and went to the area meet at Lakeridge Ski Resort to compete. He came in 40th for his age group. It was a fun fall day and he said the run through the trees was beautiful. I was glad to be able to go watch.
This year would have been the first to celebrate Selinah's birthday in person except she got sick and the party was cancelled. So, maybe when she is 4 she will have an in person party. For this year it was virtual again.
The Pfizer Covid Vaccine Booster for 12 years of age and older is now available and on October 23rd we all got out boosters. With hospitals still understaffed and lots reporting at or over capacity, hopefully this will help us as we navigate the coming months.
Easton joined the volleyball team at school this year and went to his first inter school tournament. They won half the games and had a great time. He was the only grade 7 to make the grade 8 boys team.
Easton's friend Nathan had an in person birthday party at his house. It is so nice to be embracing regular functions like this again. They played some baseball in the backyard, ate sliders and cupcakes and played video games. It sounds like they had a great time.
The weather this week was record breaking with +20 C yesterday. It is so nice to embrace the outdoors without coats in November. What a lovely weekend for Nathan's party.
I can't believe the boys are 12!
