Chickens and 18th Anniversary
This weekend was a busy weekend. The neighbours at the end of our road had some sort of major celebration, I am told his daughter got married, but it is unconfirmed. However, it didn't really matter as we were able to enjoy a beautiful fireworks display complete with heart shapes from our front porch. It was lovely. The next day we also watched a Blimp fly overhead. Not sure what that was all about?
Easton is officially a farmer. Before Christmas, Easton researched, prepared, and delivered a presentation trying to convince us that he should be allowed to become a chicken egg farmer. He reasoned that we buy eggs from the store, and we could buy from him instead, and that way he'd earn money. So the Christmas coop was assembled, waterers, and feeders were put in place, food and bedding were purchased and set up and two lovely chickens were picked up. Hadley named one Petal since it has a ring of white feathers around her neck and looks like petals, and Easton named the other one Drumstick. They are lovely chickens and have clearly been held before which I am thankful for as they are so calm.
They are Red Sex Links.
Speaking of Christmas, we also had a campfire this weekend and the Christmas tree was a source of wood that never disappoints.
On Sunday we celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary with dinner out at Koo Izakaya for sushi. The kids had the choice to come or not, as they are not huge sushi fans but they both came. Perhaps it was the appeal of outdoor mini golf afterwards?
I can't believe We have nurtured our marriage to adulthood. 18 years of being so lucky in love. I am so incredibly thankful to have married my best friend, and thankful that there is still a lifetime of amazing moments still ahead. It keeps getting better. Brian even got a hole in one for mini golf!
