Toronto Zoo
Yesterday we got together with Brian's sister Julie, her two kids and Brian's mom for Easter, Julie's birthday and to meet Jordan for the first time. It has been such a long time waiting for this visit. Jordan was born in December and we last saw Selinah when she was 3 months old.
The weather was great! They arrived in the morning and the kids did an Easter egg hunt around the house, then they played together with some of Hadley and Easton's old little people and train sets while our big turkey lunch was being prepared.
We enjoyed a full day together! It was awesome to see how Selinah interacted with us so easily. All those video calls paid off!
After visiting for a few hours, enjoying a lovely meal together and some backyard time, we headed over to the zoo for a lovely day walking around seeing animals.
There is still a mask mandate on all pavilions to protect the animals, but we just wore our masks indoors and out all day for everyone's safety.
I am thankful that we have had so many days at the zoo, that both my kids could easily navigate everywhere we went from memory even after not being there for two years.
Selinah was taking in every minute of the day and walked most of the day. She loved seeing the giraffe! I bet she was really tired after our visit as she also skipped her nap, but she was really enjoying every moment of the day and was such a joy to be around. After a full day we thought we were going to enjoy some leftovers for dinner but all kids involved thought McDonalds was a better option. So... we had our first in-restaurant meal (not in a tent, like at Hadley's birthday) in two years! The restaurant only had a few people in it so we actually had a huge section with just us in it, so that was super nice.
I can't wait for more normal feeling days like this. Such a lovely day.
