Hadley 14/15
I went to look at last year's blog and when I went searching, I couldn't find a blog post for Hadley's 14th birthday.
While we were home and it was very low key, I will attempt to make a post based on a few photos that I took.
From what I can remember, there was a day filled with making home-made cake, and decorating it. The big exciting part of the day was that we had a socially distant outdoor visit on the lawn with Hadley's friend Kianna. We strung up a Happy Birthday Sign, and each girl held up a number. One with a number 1 and ther other with a number 4. The girls spent some time hanging out and enjoying themselves with music and joy in their hearts to see each other even if it was six feet apart with masks on. This was exactly the pick me up that Hadley needed. I think she radiated joy for days! I was so happy to be able to do this for her.
I believe she grew just a touch, but not a lot, maybe a cm? She was still basically 5'2", the same as she was when she was 13.
Hadley is now 15! She has been going to in person school all year because she was able to get two doses of the vaccine. While Easton had to wait until half way through the year to get double vaccinated, so he remains virtual for now.
Mandates are slowly being lifted, masks are optional now in most settings so, we decided to have an outdoor birthday party for Hadley with the girls that she eats lunch with every day. Since they take their masks off with each other anyway every day.
However, I was surprised to see that they all showed up with masks and they only took them off to snack on s'mores and the likes.
Hadley, Kianna, Dakota, Aarti, and Nasa enjoyed swinging and music together with Hadley, they put on glow bracelets, ran around with sparklers, and enjoyed a candy bar and cake.
Hadley wanted a Dairy Queen icecream cake this year so that was also enjoyed by all! There was so much happiness! Giggles, and girl talk! I loved it for her!
Things that I notice now that she is 15. She still likes to get up at 6 am which suits the cats fine as they like to eat at that time, but it means that she goes to bed early for a teen. 9 pm is late for her. She can make it later from time to time but by 9 pm she is usually done. She loves alone time, but also time with friends.
Music and editing make her heart happy. She is all around pretty awesome. Stress from school can sometimes be a lot, but I notice that she is managing it so much better now that she is 15. Perhaps it is the fact that they are doing semesters now instead of the jam packed quad-mesters, but still...she is so responsible and takes care of homework and her teachers can't sing her praises high enough. She's pretty awesome!
This year she grew. Not much but enough to call her 5'3". We are officially the same height and we have the same shoe size, so that's pretty awesome.
She still wears womens size small clothing with a few items in kids size 16. Her favourite food is beef in the form of steak, ground beef, or stewing beef.
This year we took her out to the first restaurant that we have been to in two years. It was a new restaurant for us: Billy Jax Grill and Bar. We ate in a tent just outside the restaurant. She of course had the full steak meal!
I look forward to opening up more and more and seeing what new things happen for Hadley now that she is 15.
