It's a big week!

This week we celebrated Valentine's Day and Brian's birthday at home and then the next day... was special for this household.  We went to get take out.  14 days after both our latest vaccines fell on Valentines Day and Brian's birthday, but we needed another special day.  So... we had take out on the 16th!  This is huge as it has been 2 years since we have eaten restaurant food.  We aren't quite ready to go into restaurants to eat, but now that Brian and I are three dose vaccinated and the kids are two dose vaccinated, we are as protected as we possibly can be.  Maybe one day the kids will get a third dose and maybe we will need a booster, we don't know, but for now we are as vaccinated as we can be.  So, for the first time in two years all four of us got into the van after ordering McDonalds online on the app, and we picked up food at the curbside pick up.  I will say... I like Mcdonlds hot!  And after driving home with our food and eating it at the table... it was less than hot, but the kids were THRILLED!
Up until now we have literally used Lysol to wipe down everything from groceries, to other deliveries etc. that came into the house.  If it couldn't be wiped down properly, we quarantined it for 28 days.  So this is a big step.  We have decided that we will continue to wipe down plastics for now, and slowly ease up on the things we put into place during the last two years.
There are still 1300 people in hospital with Covid, so while the numbers are going down, and the fifth wave is lowering, we are hopeful that that continues, but we know that new variants could change things, so we are going slow but are truly hopeful that the spring and summer will allow us to stretch our wings a little more each day.
The Ontario government is easing up almost all mandates except masking by March 1st.  All businesses will operate at 100% capacity.  This is also huge!
We really don't know how many people have covid due to restrictions on who can be tested but we can see that hospitalizations are going down.
90.3 % of Ontarians older than the age of 12 have received two doses.  This has helped tremendously.
For family day weekend we celebrated at home by watching the closing ceremonies for the Olympics, and then we were off to a stay-cation to Thailand, living room style.
We started with watching the show: Somebody Feed Phil, which is a travel show that features him trying new food and experiences and in the first episode is was featuring: Thailand.
The morning started with a fruit plate for breakfast, including:  Mango, Pineapple, and Guava.  For lunch we enjoyed Tom Yum Soup, and dinner had Jasmine rice, chicken satay that I think was SOOOOO good and our dessert was a sticky rice cake that Brian and Hadley made together that was coloured green, with a white coconut sauce and raspberry topping.  It was also good.
We tried our hand at a Thai iced tea.  It tasted like sugar water with a hint of tea.  It was ok if served immediately, but it could not be saved for later.
We ended the day spending some family time building a Buddhist temple in Minecraft.  All in all, a fun way to spend some quality time together.
