Take your kid to work day
This week was the grade 9 take your kid to work day. So, of course I spent a few days ahead of time signing Hadley up for a few online sessions for entrepreneurs and creative workers.
The morning started with an online intro session for all students to watch and then she was off to work with Brian for about an hour. During this time she had an online meeting with Charis who works with Brian. Both Brian and Charis talked with Hadley about what they do but Charis apparently has lots of experience talking to students about Amazon, so this was a natural fit.
Then Hadley had a lunch break before listening in on the two online sessions for entrepreneurship and people that want to work in the creative field. Hadley is very interested in video editing so this was a good fit.
In the afternoon Brian set up meetings with a video editor named Alyssa from Amazon Prime who talked about her job as an editor and how she got to where she is now and Hadley was literally giddy after the meeting. She is excited for the opportunities in her future as she loves to make little videos. She even showed Alyssa her video clip that was put on her school's instagram account at Halloween.
This was followed by another online meeting with Timothy at Amazon Ring, and he talked about editing that he does to try to sell the video cameras for outdoor monitoring systems. Also a good experience.
The end of the day had both Brian and Hadley filling out a survey about their experience with a chance to win gifts cards if they filled it out. Fingers crossed for both of them.
I think they both came away from the day fulfilled and happy.
What a great experience.
