Covid Christmas and New Year's
This year was so different. We did Christmas shipping to family and
friends, all purchased from our computer, no stores. Which was actually
fairly stress free with no crowds, however I do miss a few stores. We had
no gatherings, but we did cook meals, and both Christmas and New Years were
filled with video calls. On Christmas we caught up and opened presents
together online which was nice, but not at all the same. On New Years Eve
we played online games while logged in together with friends. Again nice,
but not the same. We got a tree but this year it was added to our click
and collect order from the grocery store. We didn't pick it out together
as we normally do. We got a small tree which we were thankful for any tree
this year. So after we let it quarantine outside for two weeks based on
recommendations for wood quarantine, we brought it in and decorated it. We
had to be creative to get all the ornaments on a smaller tree but as each
ornament was placed we counted our many blessings.
It felt like Amazon was delivering gifts to our door daily. Things were
quarantined, or wiped down with lysol as they arrived, again... we felt
blessed with each parcel that arrived.
The kids were happy to have a break from virtual school and do things like
watch their favourite shows, play on their devices, toboggan, skate in our
new backyard rink which we decided to make happen this year as hockey and
skating at the arena wasn't happening this year, and of course just relax. All
in all I felt safe, happy and of course the main reason we stayed home...
healthy.
