Thanksgiving
This weekend was Thanksgiving weekend. Normally we would be travelling to see family and eating day after day. This weekend was more low key. For the most part we enjoyed the changing leaves on our property, we watched the latest Trolls movie with the kids, played video games, played a new board game that Easton got for his birthday, cleaned a little, and then on Monday we did a big turkey dinner. The turkey was 15 pounds, and way too big for our family, big enough to have some in the fridge for the week and freeze some too. I made mashed potatoes, scalloped potatoes, green beans, stuffing, and homemade rolls in the bread maker for the first time. They were so good! I cheated on the dessert and bought a pumpkin pie. However, it was still very much enjoyed with whip cream. Easton had two oreos and said they were his dessert.
It certainly wasn't the same as other years but I am still thankful. This year people were advised to only celebrate Thanksgiving with those who live in their house due to Covid-19. Numbers are going up with the second wave in Ontario, so we are trying our best to do our part, and stay home.
I am thankful for my family of four, I am thankful for family at a distance, and I am thankful for our health and happiness. We will get through this. It will just take time.
