July

Well the rest of July was eventful enough for backyard life.  I did a few paintings on left over wood from the house build.  I found some free online tutorials and they have been a great creative outlet.  Hadley and I worked through a few kits she had from Christmas.  We did some nail art, made some perfume, made some lip gloss, and bath bombs.  Easton was more interested in slime, so of course we made that too.  Hadley read through the Keepers of the lost cities series in about a week.  She reads so CRAZY fast!  She bought the books with her own money and I think it was a good investment as she has re-read them a bunch of times over the month.  We went digging through the playroom and found some fun things to play with, but also now have a pile of un-opened things to explore in the coming months.  First world problems.  My kids have too many things to play with, that gifts go un-opened.  But, thankful for these during Covid at home times.  Easton finished online soccer.  It certainly isn't the same as playing a competitive game, but it provided a workout with a soccer ball.  We have gone on bike rides and walks down our road.  We saw comet NEOWISE and the Big Dipper from our backyard.  We played with ballons, trying to make things out of them.  We were not super successful, but we tried anyway.  Easton's bow and arrow were probably the best.  I had some dull kitchen cloths which the kids tye-died into bright colours for me.  We made bread, pizza and zucchini loaf all from scratch.  There were cupcakes and other fun meals made.  We had a date night where we got all dressed up, went for a walk hand in hand around our property, made a dinner that we had never made before and it was delicious!  The kids didn't even call out after bedtime as they knew it was date night.  So we were able to enjoy our wine and movie.  Hadley got braces and had about a week of difficult eating but I think she has the hang of it now.  She has only left the house to go to the orthodontist.  She will have appointments every 6-8 weeks.
Stage 3 is upon us.  It is strange as pretty much everything is opening back up but there is no cure, no vaccine, and still 100 new cases in Ontario every DAY!  They do have mandatory masks in public spaces.  However, we have decided to still stay home and only go out as necessary.  So far Brian has gone as far as our mailbox since March, Easton has gone down our road, but that's it.  Hadley went out for orthodontics and while we were out she came with me for a grocery order pick up where they put my online grocery order in the back of our van, and then we drove home.  I miss being social, I miss touching things and not feeling like I have to wash the item, or myself right away.  Still I feel happy, safe and healthy.  So all is good!
