Prenatal Class #4
Last night we went to our last prenatal class. We talked about how to encourage labour, we talked about breast feeding while learning ways to hold the baby, we practiced positions with dolls.
While we were talking Brian held the doll and was a complete natural and the teacher actually asked him how he learned to hold a baby since it seemed so natural for him. A lot of cousins was the reply. So from the baby and myself, to all the cousins, thank you.
We also went through a labour drill where the guys had to answer what they would do at specific times during labour. For example: It is 7am, I woke up at 2am with 4 contractions within 2 hours, approximately 30 minutes appart. After waking Brian we both try to get more sleep if at all possible. At 7am the contractions have now become 20 minutes appart...what does he do at this point?
We went around the room and around the clock.
We talked again about back labour and breathing, and encouragement as well as the drive to the hospital and "the bag of stuff for the hospital".
At the end of the class people didn't really want to leave they just wanted to continue more conversation.
Kim, the girl from the first class that didn't think she would make all of the classes is now 40 weeks (full term) and is really ready to have her baby, but is still waiting. Or at least she was last night. :)
We walked to the exit talking with a few poeople and suggested that there will likely be possible meetings at the hospital or parent outings or maybe kindergarten. :) In hinds sight, we should have exchanged phone numbers or email or something. I suppose if our paths were meant to cross again, they will!
