A MIX of things
This weekend started out with a movie on Friday night. Children of men. I surprisingly quite enjoyed it. The premise is that no new births have occurred in over 18 years. I won't give anymore away. We met up with our friend Shawn at the AMC to see the movie and then afterwards went out to chat at a local pub. I would suggest the same evening out for anyone interested in a good movie.
Saturday was sleep in day. This was followed by Hockey day in Canada where Jim Scott from Listowel was featured. By 4 pm we were on our way out to York University to pick up my cousin Megan. We went out for a nice dinner and then continued on our way to Listowel where we went to our friends Meghan and Rob's buck and doe. It was packed! I am happy they had so many people attend, I hope they raised a lot of money for their upcoming wedding. :) I had a great time. There was a surprising amount of Verkley's there and it was great to catch up with them. I also caught up with my family as well as some friends of ours. We stayed up way too late but it was a good time.
Sunday we did cake for my mom's birthday at my sisters house. (She made and decorated a fantastic birthday cake. I actually had two pieces).
Brian and I stopped in for a short visit with my dad prior to leaving for home. When we got home I must say that I was pretty tired. So the evening just called for some tv and R & R. I did read a little though.
Today, I woke up to a blizzard of icy rain outside but I ventured to the train station anyway. I thought I would try to catch one train earlier than I normally do so as to try to make it to work on time. However, this did not work. I got on the 7:37 train which left Ajax at 8:15 and it made it one stop and then was on delay. At about 9:30 I couldn't stand any longer so I got off the train and decided to call Brian to come pick me up. After him scrapping off the car and driving in the miserable weather, he picked me up, we went to get my car at the Ajax GO station and then headed home. I got home around 10:10 am.
At about 10:15 am I got a message from a co-worker that said I had to call the Mix. The mix is a a radio station in Toronto that is having a contest/draw at their station.
The idea is...You send in a bill that you want them to pay for you, and if they call your name you have 9 minutes to call back. If you do, they pay your bill. ALSO, if you are a mix online member they double the amount and write you a cheque for that amount. In the end...I won $220. Hooray!
They are going to call me when the cheque is ready for pick up.
So even though the day started off not so well, it is getting better. I think I should put my time to good use around the house though since I have a day at home.
Enjoy your day everyone!
