Prenatal Class #1

Last night Brian and I started prenatal classes at the Ajax Hospital with Brunni, our instructor.  I was a little worried at the introduction stage as it seemed to be a bit slow moving.  However, after the first half an hour (get-to-know you stage) it progressed at a better pace.   There were about 8 couples.  It is $100 to register yourself and you can bring any support person you want to class with you.  Each of the four classes are 2.5 hours long.

We talked about aches and pains, why they were happening and how to help make them feel a little better.  We learned about what changes happen in your body thoughout pregnancy and when you are about to give birth.  As well as taking in some information on early labour, what to expect, and when to go to the hospital.  (Although that is still a little gray).

I remembered a while back that my exercise ball would be comfortable to sit on near the end of my pregnancy, but then kind of forgot about it until last night when they brought it up.  So, when we got home, we got it out and I love how comfortable it is to sit on! YAY!  Plus the rocking chairs they provide for the class are also very comfortable!

Oh, we also had a lesson on massage.  This I think was my favourite part as Brian had to try new techniques on me. Everyone brought their own pillows to help with comfort!

Most people are due in March (the same as us) and it was cool to see other pregnant people that looked similar to me.

We are the only ones in the class that have a midwife, and there is only one couple in the class that has a doula.

I can't wait to see what the next class teaches.  It is getting more and more real as the days go on.
