Add Firefox 2 to your list of essential apps.

Auto "red-underline" spell check in every online text box (like this one).  It simply doesn't get better than that.

I love it as well.  My only complaint is that some of the changes to make it more "mass market friendly" cannot be changed back to the way they were in 1.5 without going to about:config.  Kind of annoying.

It's also worth noting that IE7 is a marked improvement over 6. I think it's worth the upgrade for anyone not wanting to bother with Firefox or any other alternative.  It's especially more palatable if the corporation you work for has many IE-only sites. ;)

I went to upgrade to IE7 on my new computer, but it seems you need at least Windows XP for that.  So, as long as I'm trying to stick to my "Win2k is the last windows I'll use" silliness, I'm stuck at IE6.  Not that I mind.
