The baby is now approx. 23 wks LMP (21 wks gestation)and weighs 1.10 lbs or 501 grams. He or she is approx. 11.38 inches or 28.9 cm long.

The brain is rapidly developing. Fatty sheaths that transmit thought are forming. Eating protein is very important to help develop this. Hearing my heart and stomach are now possible. These types of sounds are apparently comforting.

A special type of fat called brown fat is developing. This keeps baby warm at birth. It also provides nourishment.

On a gross note: Meconium, the baby's first stool is developing. A lot of this will come out after baby is born.

I feel a lot of kicking now, but nothing too uncomfortable.  Although yesterday my back was more sore than usual.  Pillows are a God send!

I prefer the "S/he" way of stating ambiguous sex.
